“Le storie sono le ali della libertà"

"Stories are the wings of freedom"

 

 

 

Il Festival internazionale di Storytelling intende essere un’occasione di intrattenimento interculturale che possa interpretare in chiave moderna questo principio fondante della classicità: là dove c’è libertà e rispetto delle idee e opinioni altrui, là dove viene valorizzata la libertà dialettica è possibile la convivenza pacifica e la costituzione di una società poliedrica e multiculturale, in grado di interpretare le differenze come arricchimento e non come minaccia. Il mezzo per trasmettere questo messaggio saranno le storie della tradizione orale delle diverse culture rappresentate dagli artisti, con l’obiettivo di creare un dialogo di conoscenza culturale che possa abbattere i pregiudizi e la paura del diverso che in questo momento storico stanno tanto pericolosamente prendendo piede nella nostra. “Una storia ben raccontata trasforma le orecchie in occhi”, recita un antico adagio dei cantastorie. L'edizione 2017 del Festival è una proposta artistica volta ad “aprire gli occhi” del pubblico portandoli in un viaggio immaginario alla scoperta dei valori e delle radici della “libertà” attraverso il racconto dei miti classici e storie della tradizione di diverse culture e la modalità comunicativa dello storytelling, interpretato come moderna arte oratoria. Una forma di intrattenimento proiettata nel futuro e che affonda le radici nel passato. Ascolteremo storie di libertà di scelta, di espressione, di movimento, di essere fedeli ai propri principi o di poterne abbracciare di nuovi, di poter vivere serenamente la propria identità, di sognare, di sperare, di andare oltre le difficoltà e i limiti, di amare.

 

 

The International Storytelling Festival Raccontamiunastoria’s aims embody a kind of intercultural entertainment able to deliver to the contemporary audience this most important principle from ancient times: a peaceful and multicultural society can only exist where there is freedom and respect towards each other thoughts and ideas. Only when people are free to debate about their own ideas with one another they will be able to read differences as something that can enrich their lives rather that pose a challenge to them.

This message will be passed on through the words of storytellers from different cultures and backgrounds with the aim of promoting understanding and tear down prejudices. As Storytellers we feel that this is very important in a time such the one we are living in, when too often the society seems enslaved by the fear of whatever comes from a "different place". "A story well told transforms ears into eyes", old storytellers say. The 7th edition of the Storytelling Festival is an artistic proposal that wants to take the audience by hand and guide it through an imaginary journey at the discover of the roots and values of liberty on the wings of traditional stories. The orators of the past will come back to life in the bodies of the modern storytellers. Storytelling is a contemporary art form with long roots digging in the past. We will listen to stories about freedom, freedom of choice, freedom of speech, freedom of following one's principles or choosing new ones, freedom of being oneself and live one's identity, freedom of dreaming, hoping, overcome difficulties, limits and borders. Freedom to love.
