The first edition of  the International Storytelling Festival Raccontamiunastoria was held in Roma in 2009. The main goal of the Festival is to bring to Italy the art of storytelling and to present to the audience some of the most well known and admired professional storytellers in Europe and North America.

The 2009 Festival was held under with the approval of the FEST (Federation of Europeans Storytellers) and has been completely organised and paid for by Raccontamiunastoria Storytelling Company. The event was made possible also due to the aid of a number of volunteers that helped the board to run all the events smoothly.

The 2009 Festival was held in Rome (18-19-20 October) in some of the most amazing location throughout the Italian capital city, like S. Maria del Popolo church, Teatro di Documenti, Appia Antica Regional Park.

Media (websites, radios, television) and newspaper widely talked and wrote about the Festival and the big audience presence underlined the success of the event.

The 2011 edition of the Raccontamiunastoria International Storytelling Festival will be held in the astonishing setting of the Appia Antica Regional Park, whose governing body has entusiastically married the project since the very beginning.

The Park of the Appia Antica has been declared protected since 1988. Its 3,500 hectares include the first 16 Km of the ancient consular road (from Porta San Sebastiano to the intersection with Via Appia Nuova in Frattocchie); the Caffarella Valley; the archaeological area of the Tombs of the Via Latina; the area adjacent to the Via Tuscolana hosting the remains of seven Roman aqueducts dating back to the Republican and Imperial age, with the green area of Tor Fiscale, and the two large rural estates of Tormarancia and Farnesiana.

The third edition of the International Storytelling Festival will be held in Rome between the 29th – 30th September 1st and 2nd October 2011.
In the heart of a city full of history, a festival to celebrate and share the magic of stories through tales, legends, myths and music.
A unique event to bring storytelling to the Italian and multicultural audience in Rome, where each storyteller will create a bridge of images between his/her own culture and the audience, making of each story a special gift.

The festival will be organised and promoted by Raccontamiunastoria, the first Italian Company entirely dedicated to storytelling and its diffusion in Italy since 2005.
Main goal of this first edition of the festival is to bring storytelling back to Italian audiences, promoting the revival of this traditional Art through the voices of the best International Storytellers.

A great choice of events will be available across the three days of the Festival: storytelling performances either for adults and children, Open Floors (where everyone is welcome to tell a story!) and Sightseeing Storytelling.

Raccontamiunastoria International Storytelling Festival will be a big multicultural party open to anyone, professional storytellers, amateurs and audience who wishes to experience the great pleasure of sharing their culture, language and stories.

Where is the 2011 edition of the Festival going to be held?

All the storytelling performances and workshops will be held at “Parco Regionale dell’Appia Antica” – via Appia Antica 42, Roma. You can reach the Festival site by bus (number 218 from San Giovanni or 118 leaving from Piramide tube station – approximately 15 – 20 minutes in normal traffic conditions) or by car (see map), parking available.

How much do tickets cost?

The storytelling performance for adults cost between 5 and 10 €, whereas the cost of the shows for children is 5 €. If you wish to take part to more than one event, read the following question!

Is there a pass for the whole Festival?

Of course! Two different passes are available: shows only (you can take part to all the shows of the Festival) at 50 €, or shows + workshops at 100 €. Passes can be bought at the beginning of the Festival or before any of the shows / workshops.

What is the official language of the Festival?

Italian tellers will tell in Italian, foeigners in English. Have a look at the programme for the details of the performance you are interested in!

Do I need to book to take part to workshops or to watch shows?

Shows are operated on a first come first served basis, so there is no need to pre-book a place for the shows. To guarantee a good outcome of the workshops, only people who booked in advance are allowed to take part to them. Drop an e-mail to raccontamiunastoria@yahoo.it to book your workshop(s)!

I am not an actor: can I join a workshop?

Yes!! There are no requirements as far as theatre background is concerned.

What if it rains?

We strongly hope it doesn’t as the Appian park outdoor scenary is astonishing, but if it does rain, the outdoor events will be performed indoor (via Appia Antica, 42).

Is there any hotel special deal for the Festival?

Yes, we agreed a special price with a number of hotels for the period of the Festival, go to the “Festival Life” page to know more.

L’edizione del Festival 2010 ha riscosso una grande risonanza mediatica ed una grande ed affettuosa partecipazione di pubblico. La Basilica di Santa Maria del Popolo sede della serata di anteprima del Festival e l’affascinante scenario del Parco Regionale dell’Appia Antica hanno contribuito a dare al Festival una cornice degna all’alto livello degli artisti partecipanti. Oltre agli spettacoli per adulti, hanno riscosso grande successo anche gli spettacoli dedicati ai piu’ piccoli che insieme ai laboratori di storytelling hanno contribuito a rendere il Festival interessante per una ancor piu’ vasta gamma di pubblico. Un ringraziamento caloroso va ai volontari che con il loro impegno e la loro dedizione hanno reso possibile l’ottima riuscita anche della seconda edizione del Festival.
